Mantachie Creek at Van Buren Bridge

We're had quite a wet winter so far in Itawamba County and many of the local creeks have been full. Pictured above is Mantachie Creek after winter rains near the Van Buren Road bridge. It is not far from this spot where the creek runs into the Tombigbee River. Known as Hatchie-pullo Creek prior to the formation of Itawamba County, this creek begins in present-day northern Lee County east of Guntown and travels southeastward through western Itawamba.
