Bob, do you know if this book includes many of the households that are missing from the 1870 census found online at ancestry.com? Several families from the eastern side of the county are missing, which includes most of my Robinsons and affiliated families. I've done a page-by-page lookup online of the 1870 census and they are simply not there. How wonderful if they are included in this book!

Mona, I checked the index of the book and there is only one Robinson listing (Arthur Robinson family). However, there are several Roberson families (Coleman, Riley, Rob E., Henry, John). I wonder, living close to the Alabama state line, if they were simply missed by the enumerators in both MS and AL?

Bob, thanks for checking. I'm afraid that is what may have happened. I've looked in Alabama, Tishomingo County, and Monroe County, but they are not there. What a wealth of lost information!

Bob,

I have the Gardner family listed in Itawamba in the 1860 census, but they are in Hamilton, Tx in 1880 census. Does the 1870 census show a John M. Gardner (b.1792) along with his family, Thomas C, Clarrisa? They were all together in the 1860 census. There was also Richmond B. who had already moved but had three children by 1870: George W. John W. and Sarah M. I would like to know if I am to purchase a copy. Otherwise I have no need for it :)
